32nd ASSIOM FOREX Annual Congress
On 20 and 21 February 2026, the Palazzo del Casinò on Venice Lido hosted the 32nd ASSIOM FOREX Annual Congress, one of the leading forums for meeting and debate among Italian financial market operators, attended by representatives of the banking system, institutions, financial companies and academia.
Over two days, the congress tackled some of the key issues shaping the evolution of financial markets and the international economy. The programme opened with a keynote speech by Sergio Nicoletti Altimari, Deputy Director General of the Banca d’Italia, on global imbalances and the risks of an increasingly fragmented world economy, followed by the workshop “Mercati in trasformazione: scenari, opportunità e rischi del nuovo contesto globale” (Markets in transformation: scenarios, opportunities and risks in the new global context).
One of the highlights of the congress was the official address by the Governor of the Banca d’Italia, Fabio Panetta, entitled “Commercio e finanza in un mondo frammentato” (Trade and finance in a fragmented world). The speech examined the shifting balance of the international economy, its impact on trade and the financial system, and the implications for the Italian and European economies. The ASSIOM FOREX Congress traditionally hosts the Governor’s first official speech of the year, lending the event particular significance for the financial and institutional community.
The programme continued with a round table organised in collaboration with Il Sole 24 Ore–Radiocor on technological innovation, energy production and financial markets. Moderated by Fabio Tamburini, the debate brought together representatives from banking, business and academia, including Intesa Sanpaolo, Banca Ifis, A2A and Politecnico di Milano.
The configuration of the Palazzo del Casinò also met the needs of an event combining institutional sessions, workshops, an exhibition area and networking. Saturday’s main sessions were held in the Sala Perla, a 594-seat auditorium linked for the occasion to the Sala Volpi, while the Sale Mosaici were also used on the first day. This multi-room set-up made it possible to run congress sessions, professional meetings and dedicated spaces for sponsors and operators at the same time.
